The meeting is set to gather experts, stakeholders, and policymakers to engage in fruitful discussions on significant matters concerning long distance fisheries.

The RCG LDF annual technical meeting serves as a vital platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange among participants. With the aim of fostering transparency and accountability in the decision-making process, all outputs of the meeting will be incorporated into the RCG LDF 2023 Annual Report.

During the meeting, participants will address a wide range of topics outlined in the agenda. These discussions will cover key aspects such as progress reviews, data collection and analysis, regional cooperation mechanisms, and emerging fisheries.

On the first day, after the welcome and introductory sessions and adoption of the agenda, participants will review and discuss the outcomes of the 19th Liaison Meeting. Additionally, they will focus on specific areas such as CECAF, SPRFMO, and NAFO-related discussions, as well as regional data collection and storage mechanisms.

Days two and three will feature in-depth analysis of data from the 2022 RCG LDF data call, subgroup sessions, and plenary sessions. Participants will explore emerging fisheries, sampling obligations, and share experiences related to data upload and feedback. Furthermore, the agenda includes a review of the RCG LDF Rules of Procedure and potential harmonization efforts.

On the fourth and final day, participants will conclude discussions on outcomes, conclusions, and report assembly. They will deliberate on upcoming calls for tenders/proposals and studies, elect the new RCG LDF chair, and decide on the date and location of the next RCG LDF meeting.

The RCG LDF 2023 meeting promises to be a significant event for the long distance fisheries community, facilitating collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the formulation of strategic decisions.
